In a geographically prominent area on the banks of the Isar, the town of Dingolfing is not just a modern industrial centre in eastern Bavaria, but also a relatively small, friendly place with many cosy corners and a history of more than 750 years. Famous during the Middle Ages because of its coveted cloth, today it is better known for its top exports – the BMW Series 5, 6 and 7, which have been manufactured at the BMW site in Dingolfing since the 1970s. A good 1200 autos per day are produced there by around 19,000 employees, and in a quality that is tops, as proven by regular independent inspections.
